A third rape in Pune !! Whats with the IT hub?

Nisha Garud says:

November 1, 2007: 22-year-old Jyotikumari Ramanand Choudhari, a BPO professional, was travelling by company cab from her home. She was allegedly raped and killed by two suspects.

October 8, 2009: IT professional Nayana Pujari was raped and murdered in the Zarewadi forest in Khed taluka. She was kidnapped from Kharadi on October 7 by cab drivers.

April 1, 2010: A 25-year-old married woman was gang-raped by the three suspects after she hailed the car near Hinjewadi at 4pm.

The above news kept flashing all over the news channels on Thursday raising doubts on the faith or belief in cab drivers and safety of women working late. The first case happened in 2007 and even after 3 years we have not been able to find a solution to the problem. Can we ask the police and administration why such problems are arising again and again?

We can stop women from working late but can a solution be found to the problem of private transport?

My friends, tomorrow you will be entering the newspaper world and will be required to work late and will be facing the same situation. Even if you are a boy chances are of you being burgled and stripped off your valuable items. Cant we find a permanent solution and make living safe?

  1. Pune is still a lot safer. MP and UP are even worse. To be honest, I doubt any society will ever be able to stop these incidents as they arise from human being's (or more better put...MAN's) basic need for money, sex etc. I guess, at a certain point, just as when women become mothers, they automatically develop a motherly feeling n instinct, which is exactly like the one animals develop...I believe men too (especially those who are either very lustful or deprived ), at some point, find the beast in them rise, which makes them act like animals do.

As far as finding da solution to the problem goes, we'll see how things have gone in da past.

    Additional Security :

Security guards have been known to rape those who they were supposed to be protectin.

Same with cops, most of whom are busy protecting celebs and politicos anyways.

However, there is one solution, not very feasible, but still better than many others.

Find women who are in search of employment, train em to drive and give em cabs. All women cabs. Also, there should be an all women central control room with cops(women as well), that can help dispatch cops immidiately if and when a women cabbie herself is trapped alone onna highway due to puncture or something. Also, those cars should be connected via wireless, and, there should be an emergency buzzer in all cars, that can be pressed so that cops can immediately locate the car and hunt it down. And yea, that buzzer should set off a loud alarm in da car itself, so passing vehicles will get alerted.

And yea, besides that, about time women learn to carry pepper sprays n learn some martial arts yo. And government should at least fund to help train gals to protect emselves, where therez gals who can't afford self defence classes.

And yea, there's a glitch here too. If the rapists or burglars got guns, martial arts n pepper sprays will be of no use. Only da buzzers may save em, probably.

By da way, there should be increased no of buses at night and people should try bike pooling and travellng in groups to avoid getting burgled. There's not many options there tho, as most cops are busy protecting people who matter the least.

prohibitting women from working late is of no use.evreyone has the right to work anytime any where so as women provided there should be proper and secured transport system by the employer.
in the recent incedent the victim is not the employee of any company,in fact she was looking for job.
question comes in my mind being an educated lady, how she ask for the lift of private car?it is said that she waited a long for public transport.in such a case she must have rang up to her relatives or friends and wait at the spot till they come.
i am not blaiming the girl at all,the incedent made all of us to rethink about the sefty of women in pune.police and citizens shld come together and find a solution.
