Indian Premier Leauge is gaining momentum. Lot is being aired and published abt it. We do enjoy the game and the thrill. What is your take on it?
I am a die-hard fan of Sachin and Mumbai Indians. This team is on dream run now; but will the momentum last upto the final?

@informreform and Gaurav: hmm.... IPL is making quite a wave these days. Unfortunately, being more of a Football lover than Cricket lover, I can't exactly give some useful inputs regarding this matter. Gaurav has raised nice point and he is one knowledgeable person in this matter. So I think I will leave it to experts! :)
Hey sir was wondering why this topic isn’t coming up? I LUVVVVVVV IPL. A big fan of it. Thanks to the brains of Mr Lalit Modi that he has given us the highest form of entertainment through this IPL. Well, as far as supporting is concerned, I favour good cricket. Ya, Mumbai is doing really well. But as you have seen a match can turn at any moment. If one batsman can make a difference with a good innings, one good over can turn the tables in your favour. I have not missed even a single IPL match till now. Well sir I want from my heart the Mumbai Indians win but we should also see that all the matches they have played till now have been on their home ground. Their real test will start from the second round.
ReplyDeleteBeing in office, the TV is right next to me and I rarely happen to miss the action. But I wonder how long the IPL fever will remain. I want to ask all those who are big IPL fans: Don’t you guys get irritated watching the same non-cricketing scenes again?
It’s the same cheerleaders dancing with the same moves, the MRP logo on the balloon with the commentator saying that the MRF pace academy is doing a great job since the past 20 years and ZK is a product of it, the big screen saying ‘fetch it’, ‘cunning shot’ and many such monotonous adjectives, it’s the shot of the same DJs dancing to their own tunes, the same scenes of a man lighting up crackers on the roof of the stadium, of the spectators shouting out the countdown declaring the end of the strategic time out, of a few fat spectators winning the ‘catch contest’ and so on…
Well apart from the nail-biting finishes there is just nothing that is keeping me intrigued to the matches. All in all I can say the over presentation sucks! And Sony Entertainment Presentation needs to get a bit innovative.
PS: I cant read wat Gaurav is writing. I suppose the font is missing
@Nisha
ReplyDeleteI know just exactly why you and most other girls / women hate cheergirls so much.........
@Topic
Well, basically, IPL is a money spinner thing, pure entertainment, and siphonin max money out of gullible people, which, all countries are filled-to-the-brim with, wincluding those guys who vote in reality shows, buy merchandise, support teams / people with full-on passion n stuff...
You can see it from the fact that people are playing "Oonglii Cricket", buying IPL T Shirts and SMS-ing Man of the match predictions (to win nothing) etc, while the organisers are introducing killer bats and bringing boundaries closer so that there will be more sixes..............game balance be damned.
I hear of truckloads(in fact nation-loads) full of gullible people supporting Mumbai Indians and KKR as if those guys are playing for state / city pride or it is going to make their 'ilaake-ka-naam-raushan' etc...I wish I could tell em, "C'mon, do you really think they're out there doing this for anything other than big bucks ?" But if course I won't tell em......After all, I'm to go into advertising and the more the gullible people, the more the sales, the more I'll mint money....:)...And guess what, with people lyk that, I wouldn't feel too bad about it either.....:D
As far as game overdose is concerned, I wouldn't be too optimistic...In India at least, I seen n know of people who'll watch watch ten year old TEST-matches, that too between Zimbabwe n England, so you know how it is about Cricket in India.......:P
Meanwhile, what I really love IPL for is the off-field controversies, slapgate incidents, ugly-comments-turning-into-uglier-spats, etc, which (for me) are def more entertaining.......I hope we have more of them this year too.
P.S. My best wishes to Sania Mirza for her new Love-Game! (Pun-Intended)What say,Sohrab ? :P
Well i jst did not mention about the cheer girls Aseim... wonder how u jst noticed tat point?? ;P
:( so no comment on this....
ReplyDelete@Nisha
ReplyDeleteI notice what matters. if I couldn't spot controversial stuff to make fun of, I wouldn't be.......me.....;)
Agreed totally wid Gaurav. Same with the huge ad billboards and lighted malls, and their equally lighted (empty!) parking lots while people out there r dying to get power. Since da the companies that advertise are so rich anyways, why are they not forced by da government to install solar panels for lighting up their ad boards at late night ? It's nutty.
ReplyDelete@ Gaurav, you have raised a valid and yet very much neglected point. Is it possible to measure the electricity consumption during IPL, at venues and million households? If that can be done, it could be a major story.
