Spineless Wonder

Yogesh Parale:
The most dangerous element that can harm the concept of welfare of people is inability to take decisions. The political system may it democracy or any other form of governing body has to take decisions for these decisions whether right or wrong would lead us ahead to the path of growth.
The “central democratic state government of Maharashtra” seems to be uneducated regarding this fundamental principle of governance. It is disgraceful to find every now and then being ridiculed as a state which has a flexibility of an Ameba while taking stand regarding any issue. The government seems to be a spineless wonder which falls and rises with a victorious smile on the face.
The issues like ‘best of five’ or the persistent issue of Belgaon are testing the firmness of government or its uniformity regarding any policy. {It is open for debate to all whether this government has any policy regarding any issue!} The government seems to be helpless and hopeless to form any type of consensus regarding any issue.
The issue of best of five seems to be solved now. It must be considered that the particular issue was handled with a sheer insensitivity towards the future of students. The Supreme Court has only halted the High Court verdict. This whole issue was a fine example of state’s third rate diplomacy for pressing the stand of Maharashtra.Even the issue of James Lane and his controversial book has depicted the powerlessness of the state. It is easy to shout from the rooftops in the house abusing Lane or it is even simpler to make this issue as a political launch pad with the politics of emotions. But it was a hard task to present the stance of the government in the Supreme Court and this is where the state was expected to show its guts.
The issue of Belgaon has become a haunting issue for any ruling government in Maharashtra. The number of state delegations visiting the capital regarding this issue is infinite. The issue basically needs a positive Central Interference. It is crystal clear from the happenings that the top brass of the Congress counts the state Congress or ruling government as mere pawns with actual power invested at Delhi. This is practically a joke as the Central government of Congress ridicules its own party’s government at state level and supports the main opposition party in Karnataka. We should celebrate this unique event as the grand success of our democracy! Actually the state government does not exist in Maharashtra.
The issues like these relate us directly to the crux of the matter – whether the government has a backbone or not? We know the answer – a spineless wonder falls and rises with a victorious smile!!
